GDXJ Monthly Elliott Wave View

On the monthly chart, GDXJ established a pivotal low in 2016 at $16.87. From that foundation, the ETF embarked on a sustained impulsive advance. The first major leg, wave (I), culminated at $52.50. Then a corrective decline in wave (II) drove prices down to $19.52. Strength then returned, with wave I of (III) climbing to $65.95. A retracement in wave II of (III) followed to $25.64. Momentum accelerated sharply thereafter, as wave III of (III) extended to $157.49. The subsequent corrective phase, wave IV, has now concluded at $89.83. With this low in place, the ETF has shifted direction and resumed its upward trajectory.

GDXJ Daily Elliott Wave View

The daily Elliott Wave outlook for GDXJ illustrates the internal progression of wave (III). The corrective wave II of (III) completed at $25.64. This set the stage for a powerful advance in wave III of (III), which carried prices to $157.49. That rally unfolded as a classic five‑wave impulse, subdividing into waves ((1))–((2))–((3))–((4))–((5)). More recently, the market completed its wave IV pullback as a double three, bottoming at $89.90. From that level, the ETF has turned higher into wave V. However, it still requires a decisive break above the prior wave III peak at $157.49 to fully negate the risk of a broader double correction. In the near term, as long as price action holds above $89.92, any pullbacks are expected to stabilize within three or seven swings, providing support for further upside continuation.
